Playa Venao Reforestation
Salzburg Development's annual reforestation efforts resumed in June with the onset of rainy season.  Twenty species of native tropical hardwood and fruit trees were selected to be planted this year across Salzburg's two projects in the Pedasi and Playa Venao vicinity, Lomas de Playa Venado and Rio Oria Estates.   Areas that were clear cut for grazing and teak plantations over the past 50 years are being reforested to create food corridors and extend the reach of the small amount of existing forest in the area.  The trees are also used for erosion protection in the areas of home and road construction on the two projects.  A noticable increase in the amount of wildlife, ranging from the local white tail deer to birds, has occurred in the area over the last 7 years due to reforestation efforts by private land owners, especially in the Playa Venao area.
